Hi everyone!
This morning conversation began with
Emily searching a calm place and explaining to her roommate why she was
speaking French!
Then, we talked about what happened
in Paris. That was interesting to know how people reacted, across the Atlantic,
and how information travelled. At a moment, I explained her in detail her all
the events that happened this dark Friday without realizing I was hogging the
conversation! (Sorry for that ^^’)
In the US, it raised a fundamental
question: refugee welcoming. States in the center of the country are mainly
conservative and against refugee welcoming, islamophobic reactions are observed.
And on the East Coast too. For instance, Emily told me that taxi drivers who
looks like Near East people had problem with customers saying they were
terrorists.
On Facebook, people can color their
profile photo with French flag colors as a support. That is a criticized
practice because of its uselessness, physically speaking. Emily and I agree
with saying that is better to bring this tiny little support than nothing at
all. In my opinion, terrorism must never become something we are used to. As
long as terrorism will be shocking, will to stop it will be strong enough.
Today’s conversation ended sooner
than the last time because Emily had to study because many of her projects and
homework’s deadlines are approaching. She seems to be a hardworking student and
I wish her to succeed in doing what matters the most for her.
Again, it was a real pleasure to
speak with her, it is quite easy to understand her (and to be understood I
hope!) despite the lack of specific vocabulary of both of us.
