Thursday, I have talked with Jennifer about our studies and our family traditions.
We have started comparing the cost of this year in university, for both of us. I knew that it is expansive in USA, but I have been surprised to learn that the governement help can be important. However scholarships in USA depend on the University, when in France it just depend on the family situation. She seems really motivated to work hard, especially because she wants to enhanced her state of life. She have explained me that hispanic people, have still not an access to university as easy as for other americans. Then she have asked me on how many strangers come to our university, and I told her that most of foreign students, in France, go to Paris. It seems to be not the same in USA.
Then we talked about celebrations in France and in USA. The interesting thing is that Jennifer have both mexican and american culture. So each of her family celebration seems to mix those 2 cultures. For example, for Haloween she alos célébrâtes the day of the deads. She have explained to me hox important this feast can be: it makes her fealing the death as a "happy" things, or at least something normal. She was also exited because Thanksgiving is coming very soon. Unlike her, I don't celebrate many things, in my family it is birthday which have more importance.
Jennifer's parents are born in Mexico and she in USA, so she have 2 nationalities.
This convesation was trully interesting, even if it have been difficult some time.
